As a resident of Bangkok, Thailand and someone who is also as blind as a bat, I’ve been to many Bangkok eye clinics and eye hospitals over the years. Everything from annual check-ups, prescriptions for new glasses, to buy over-the-counter contact lenses, and even for a Lasik surgery evaluation, I’ve done it all at Bangkok’s excellent eye clinics or hospitals. With many in Bangkok to choose from, anyone not familiar with the city might be at a loss. Yet with so many westerners getting eye care in Thailand, it pays to know which eye clinics or hospitals will give you great service, excellent care and good value for money.
Rutnin Eye Hospital – Known as the best eye hospital in the country, Rutnin Eye Hospital specializes in all types of ophthalmology. At Rutnin, you can get everything from a regular check-up to treatment for an infection or an injury, Lasik surgery, prescriptions for corrective contact lenses or glasses, treatment for glaucoma, a corneal transplant and cataract treatment.
Rutnin Eye Hospital even has a Children’s Eye Center for Pediatric treatment, so if your child has eye problems or needs eye surgery, this is the best hospital in Thailand.
All the specialists they hire are board certified and all their treatment is given at international standards. They have an excellent out-patient department, several theaters if you require surgery and even an in-patient department if you require overnight monitoring or extensive surgery.
You’ll find Rutnin Eye Hospital at 80/1 Sukhumvit 21 Road (Soi Asoke), Bangkok 10110, Thailand.
TRSC International Lasik Center – One of the best eye clinics in Bangkok, if not Thailand, TRC International Lasik Center concentrates priimarily on corrective Lasik surgery. They perform all types of Lasik surgery for short-sightedness, far sightedness and astigmatism, as well as surgery to correct cataract problems.
TRSC has been offering eye surgery in Bangkok for almost 15 years and, during that time, has treated thousands of patients successfully. They’re known for their high success rate, world-class technical equipment and board certified specialists. Price-wise, their services are usually a higher cost than many other Bangkok Lasik centers, but you do get what you pay for and, even at their prices, they are still far cheaper than most eye clinics in the west that perform Lasik, yet their treatment is as good or better.
TRSC International Lasik Center is on the 6th Floor, U Chu Liang Building, 968 Rama IV Rd. Silom, Bangrak Bangkok.
Bangkok Hospital – If you’re looking for world-class treatment at Thailand prices, along with a pleasant bed-side or desk-side manner, and trusted diagnoses and treatment, then you can’t go wrong with Bangkok Hospital’s eye clinic. A favorite with resident western expats, Bangkok Hospital is Thailand’s largest hospital group, and offers superb eye care for a fraction of the cost of hospitals in the west.
In their ophthalmology clinic, you can have treatment for blocked tear ducts, injury to your eyes, infections, cataracts, droopy or baggy eyelid corrective surgery, Lasik surgery, or just common vision problems. Staff speaks excellent English and, if you have to stay overnight or longer, the service you’ll receive will be second to none.
They even offer a free shuttle service to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport and to and from several sky train stations in Bangkok. You can’t get much better service than that.
Bangkok Hospital is at 2 Soi Soonvijai 7, New Petchburi Road, Bangkapi, Huay Khwang.
