If you’re in Bangkok, Thailand and are a Democrat but haven’t had a chance to donate to President Obama’s presidential campaign yet, the Bangkok branch of Democrats Abroad has one more opportunity for you to do just that. They are holding their final Obama fundraiser at Tenderloins Sports Bar on Sukhumvit Soi 33 on October 30th at 5:30pm. Food is included and there’ll be a cash bar.
Minimum contribution, by the way, is only $25 (less than 1,000 baht), which is a pretty small sum for a political fundraiser. Of course, you can donate more and, if you do, at $75 or above you’ll get an Obama t shirt. Two t shirts if you contribute more than 150 bucks.
As for me, I’ve been getting Democrats Abroad mailings from the Bangkok branch for close to a decade but have never actually been to an event. The older I get the less I like politicians and, although Romney is the worst of the choices for the 2012 presidential election, I’m not a fan of Obama either. So, unfortunately, I won’t be attending.
If, however, you’re an Obama fan, I encourage you to attend. I’ve heard the Democrat events in Bangkok are a lot of fun and it’s a nice way to meet a few other American expats.
You can get more information about the fundraiser with an e-mail to [email protected].
