Gangster (Antapan) Releases in Thailand, June 14th

There’s a new Thai movie out this weekend that looks a lot different than the usual fare. Called Gangster, or Antapan in Thai, it takes you back to the 1950s with the story of Dang, the son of a prostitute, who by the age of 16 is a fully-fledged gangster running his own protection racket. The movie looks interesting for its portrayal of crime in 1950s Thailand, as well as for some stellar performances by some pretty cool young Thai actors.

Gangster (Antapan) is directed by Kongkiat Khomsiri, and stars Krissada Sukosol, Krissada Supapprom, Sakarin Suthamsamai, Somchai Khemklad,  and Wasu Sangsingkaew.

A movie of the same name with the same storyline was released in 1997, so I’m guessing this version of Gangster is probably a remake. I did see the original movie and loved it, and as I’m a huge fan of Thai movies, this one too is a must-see for me. Check out the video preview trailer below. Looks great, eh?
