How much will you pay for a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet in Bangkok?

While at Bangkok’s Fortune Town mall pricing tablets this weekend, I also checked out the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, as that’s likely to be a ‘gift’ to myself for Christmas this year. Unsurprisingly after testing it out, not only does the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 do everything I would want a tablet to do, it’s lightning fast and, in Thailand’s often over-priced tablet market, not too high a price for what you get. So, how much is a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet in Bangkok, Thailand, and should you buy one?

Price of a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet in Bangkok is reasonable

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablets that I looked at in various shops at Fortune Town mall in Bangkok (the best place to buy any IT equipment) all ran around the same price — 14,900 baht or $480 at current exchange rates.

That, of course, was for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 3G Quad Band tablet — product number T-N5100 – and not for the cheaper priced Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that comes with just Wi-Fi.

Prices in Bangkok vs the US and the UK

So, how does buying a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet in Bangkok compare to buying one in the US or the UK? On this brand, price-wise it’s so close compared to the US, the difference is merely negligible.

Where you can currently pick one up on in the US for $470, you’ll pay just $10 more in Bangkok. That means, for those of you on vacation in Thailand and needing to buy a new tablet, if you want one for convenience now, you’ll pay just a few dollars more than you would do back in the US and a little less than in Europe.

But, for those of you who actually live in Bangkok, by the time you’ve bought the tablet from a US company, had it shipped and chanced paying custom fees on it when it arrives in the country, you might as well buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet in Bangkok. It would be cheaper.

As for buying a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet in Bangkok compared to the UK, you’d be crazy not to buy one here. After all, you’d pay $480 in Thailand, and £380 or the equivalent of $594 in the UK. More than $100 more. Crazy, eh?
