iPhone 5 available in Thailand in October, 2012
The iPhone 5 was released in the US a couple of weeks ago and, not surprisingly, it will soon be available in Thailand. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) says it’s already received and approved Apple’s request to be allowed to sell the iPhone 5 in Thailand, so shipments of the new mobile phone should be arriving soon. The new iPhone is expected to go on sale all over Thailand before the end of October. You’ll be able to buy the iPhone 5 in Bangkok at the Apple Store, MBK, Pantip Plaza, Fortune Town Mall and a slew of other places that sell mobile phones.
Personally, I don’t like Apple products or their attempted-monopoly of all things mobile and tablet, or their constant lawsuits against companies like Samsung for that matter, so an Apple iPhone 5 is just about the last thing I’d buy. Plus, with the deletion of Google Maps and the inclusion of the absolutely horrendous Apple Maps, the iPhone 5 isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, a fair number of new iPhone owners are already saying it wasn’t worth the money spent.
Still, if you’re an Apple fan and can’t wait to get your hands on the iPhone 5 in Bangkok or elsewhere in Thailand, you can expect to pay at least 22,000 baht ($719) for the 16 Gigabytes model and then on upward from there. Yes, unfortunately, they are even more expensive than in the US, so not a particularly good deal at all.
