Spas in Chiang Rai – Want A Massage, a Fruit Scrub Or Aromatherapy?

Chiang Rai,Thailand, is one of the most popular destinations for tourists to visit. The first time I visited the town 10 years ago, it was a sleepy town with not much to do. In the last few years, development has exploded and restaurants, cafes, art galleries, boutiques and spas are now everywhere. Chiang Rai spas are fabulous and offer both traditional Thai and international spa packages. There are many spas in Chiang Rai, but these four are some of my favorites.

Anantara Spa, Chiang Rai – Built in traditional Thai style with lots of triangular pillows, dark wood, candles and greenery, Anantara Spa in Chiang Rai is an incredibly pretty place. Here you can get a massage, a facial, aromatherapy, a fruit scrub or sit in a terrazzo soaking tub and enjoy the beautiful view.

The Anantara Spa is built on a hillside at the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort, so it has stupendous views of Thailand, Laos and Burma as well as the Mekong River. There are also three world-class restaurants at the Anantara Resort so, after a morning or afternoon of spa treatments, why not treat yourself to a delicious meal in a gorgeous environment.

You can find out more about the Antara Resort & Spa Golden Triangle at their website, as well as book a spa, a room or an entire vacation.

Phowadol Resort and Spa, Chiang Rai – In the beautiful Phowadol Resort, the Phowadol Bodhi Tree Spa is a new spa that’s only been open for a year. Its city location means it’s easy to get to and, if you’re staying there, easy to leave and see some of Chiang Rai’s sights but, because it’s surrounded by acres of lush lawns, flowers and trees, you still feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle somewhere.

The spa offers typical traditional Thai spa services, fruit scrub massages, hydrotherapy and Thai massage. With more than 150 hotel rooms, spa services, a nice restaurant and bar, biking and elephant trekking, I’d recommend staying at this full-service spa and taking advantage of everything they have to offer.

Phu Chaisai Mountain Resort and Spa, Chiang Rai – Phu Chaisai is in one of the most amazing locations of any spa I’ve been to. Up in the mountains with incredible views out over the paddy fields, the hotel is built of bamboo and terra cotta so it blends in well with the landscape. The spa services too are out of this world with green tea wraps, fruit scrubs, Thai massage, herbal preparations, and skin treatments.

The true amazingness to this spa though is its incredible location. In six years in Thailand, I’ve never seen a more beautiful place, especially in the morning when the mist still hangs over the mountains. The Phu Chaisai Spa offers world-class spa services in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Any visitor to Phu Chaisai will never be disappointed.

Teak Garden Villa and Spa, Chiang Rai – Another new hotel and spa, the Teak Garden Villa, is an incredible hotel and spa. It’s out of Chiang Rai city proper, so requires a taxi or tuk-tuk to get there but, once there, you’ll be glad you came. Aromatic massages, fruit scrubs, Jurlique facials, traditional Thai massage – they have it all, in fact their spa services are world-class.

Teak Garden Villa hotel is beautiful with enormous rooms decorated in the Lanna (northern Thailand) style. Service is also impeccable. 155 Moo 19,International Airport Rd, Chiang Rai Chiang Rai is a beautiful city and, because of its location surrounded by mountains and rice paddies, spas in Chiang Rai seem to be even more relaxing and soothing.
