Dita von Teese in Bangkok: Thai Ladyboys and Cabaret (Video)

Burlesque dancer Dita von Teese is famous for many things. Her stunning looks, her 1940s style, her success in glamour and fetish modeling, and her catwalk work with international designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood.

I’ve followed her for years as I love that she completely creates her own style and her own way, doesn’t seem to care what anyone else thinks about her and, so, is one of the most unique women around.

Weirdly, though, as big of a fan as I am, I somehow managed to miss Dita von Teese in Bangkok. Weird because I live in Bangkok, and I had no idea she’d even been here.

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, however, I just found an interview with von Teese while she was in Bangkok last year and just had to share.

Particularly because she talks about Thai drag queens, or ladyboys, and cabaret and mentions how it’s just about impossible to figure out that they are men, as they look so perfectly ‘girls’.

That I can attest to, as I’ve met many Thai drag queens over my years in Bangkok and even had a friend who was dating one for a while. I’d known her three months before I finally figured out she was, in fact, a man. And yes, many Thai drag queens really are that good.

Watch the fabulous Dita von Teese in the video below. Damn, now I am mad I missed her.
