Luckily, calling the USA from Thailand is a lot easier than it might seem. Just follow these quick steps and you’ll be connected in no time:
1. Pick up the phone and dial 001 + 1 – then dial the US area code + US local telephone number.
2. For example, if the phone number you want to reach in the US is 202-456-1111 (the White House switchboard for comments), you would dial:
001 1 202 456 1111
And that’s it. Easy eh?
Just remember though, calling the US from Thailand can be expensive, especially if you don’t have a special international calling plan on your home phone or cell phone (and heavens forbid, don’t ever call the US from your hotel room phone), so be careful how long you talk. Or you might have a huge shock when the phone bill arrives.
