How to make Pla Rad Prik — Thai fried fish with sweet and sour chili sauce
If you’ve spent any time in Thailand, you’ll probably have eaten Pla Rad Prik, a Thai pan-fried fish that is usually served with a mild sweet and sour chili sauce. It’s served all over Thailand from upscale restaurants to inexpensive street stalls, and it’s one of the most delicious ways to cook fish I’ve ever tasted.
If you have eaten Pla Rad Prik and would love to know how to make it, here’s an excellent video from a woman called Pailin, a Thai gourmet cook that runs a YouTube channel called ‘Hot Thai Kitchen’. In it she cooks up an amazing fresh halibut and prepares it the ‘Thai way’ — pan-fried and covered in the most delicious sweet and sour chili sauce.
By the way, if you like Pla Rad Prik and want to try this dish – serve it with rice and a couple of side dishes of stir-fried Thai vegetables and it really will create an amazingly delicious authentic Thai meal.
Now watch Pailin’s video below and, if you enjoy it, make sure to watch all her other videos as well. She makes some amazing authentic Thai food and explains exactly how to cook each dish and why, so even a non-cook like me can understand.
