Superb news for the Chiang Rai tourist industry, which has been stuck with flights to and from these three Asian destinations having to go through one of Bangkok’s two airports for decades.
Not only did that double the flight time to Macau, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, but it also doubled the cost.
With the new Air Asia flights from Chiang Rai to Macau, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, however, this will now open up Chiang Rai as a short-term and long-term travel destination for hundreds of thousands of potential tourists.
Not a bad start to 2019 for the many hotels, restaurants and tourists spots in Chiang Rai and beyond.
