A Thai friend of mine just called to tell me she’s going to see the Thai movie “Pee Mak Phra Kanong” for the fourth time in as many weeks. When I asked her why she was buying Pee Mak Phra Kanong tickets yet again, she excitedly told me the price over the next six days at all Thailand’s movie theatres is only 80 baht ($2.80) per ticket, down from the usual 150 baht ($5.20). So, she’s going again.
Apparently, GTH, who are the producers of the film, have decided to lower the cost of movie tickets in Thailand for Pee Mak Phra Kanong from May 9th to the 15th. The reduction in prices is not only to thank people for seeing the movie (and thus giving them an opportunity to see it again at a cheaper price), but also to persuade those who haven’t yet seen it to do so.
By the way, Pee Mak is now the most successful Thai movie of all time. It has sold more tickets than ‘Suriyothai’, the previous holder of that honor, and is set to smash all box office records for any Thai movie for decades to come.
Honestly, it absolutely deserves it as it’s a well-made, well-acted movie and very very funny. Don’t forget, tickets to see Peek Mak Phra Kanong are only 80 baht until next Tuesday. If you haven’t yet seen it, now’s your opportunity.
