Record cases of Covid-19 in Thailand with 11,784 new infections but lower number of daily deaths

As Covid-19 cases in Thailand continue to rise, the country has recorded another record high.

This time, there have been 11,784 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Thailand in the last 24 hours, with an additional 81 fatalities. The number of new deaths, however, has fallen from yesterday.

The latest cases bring the total number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand up to 386,307 since April 1st.

Today’s new Covid-19 cases also cause the south east Asian country to fall to #54 on the list of total cases per country.  A far cry from the #90 to #91 position it held for most of the last year.

Cases also continue to rise even though the Thai government of Prayut Chan-o-cha mandated a lockdown in heavily hit Bangkok and nine provinces.

A lockdown that is likely to tighten even further over the next few days as the government struggles with containing virus surges, while still experiencing problems obtaining the vaccines they have been promising for several months.
