If you’ll be shopping at J.J. Mall in Bangkok this weekend, don’t miss checking out the “Season of Chiang Mai Brand” Handicraft Fair. Yes, it’s a weird name, but it’s basically a small Thai handicrafts fair showcasing some of the beautiful hand-made products from the Chiang Mai area of Thailand.
It’s not just handicrafts though. You’ll also find a fair number of stalls selling Thai food specific to Chiang Mai, various artisans showing how they make the crafts they sell and Thai musicians entertaining the crowd.
I picked up some very pretty hand-made slippers and a couple of Thai desserts. Prices are cheap too, with Thai desserts at 15-20 baht (50-66 cents) and, for my two pairs of slippers only 90 baht ($2.99) for both.
The “Season of Chiang Mai Brand” Handicrafts Fair in Bangkok started today and goes on through Sunday. You’ll find J.J. Mall right behind the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market in northern Bangkok. Take the sky train to Mo Chit station and it’s just a few minutes walk, or the underground train to Khampaeng Phet station and just walk up the street from there.
