SEE TEFL – A Good School for a TEFL Course in Chiang Mai, Thailand?

Looking for a good TEFL course in Thailand?

If you are a would-be teacher moving to Thailand  to teach English, and you are looking for a good TEFL course in Thailand you may just be in luck. I have heard from several people who enjoyed their TEFL course at SEE TEFL that the school is one of the best in Chiang Mai, if not in Thailand.

So, I did a little research and came across a wonderful video SEE TEFL uploaded to YouTube recently.

What is SEE TEFL in Chiang Mai?

SEE TEFL is short for ‘Siam Educational Experience’ TEFL, and the video introducing their TEFL program is hosted by John Quinn, Course Director at the school.

In the video, John gives you a quick tour of the school (it is bright, colorful and looks calming and relaxing), introduces you to some of the Thai staff (they are all smiley and happy) and shows you the computer room, the classroom area and even a Thai language class some of the soon-to-be English teachers in Thailand participate in.

One thing that struck me about the video is how pretty the school is.

It is also in a great area of Chiang Mai, close to the river, not far from the Chiang Mai bus station, the flower market, restaurants, supermarkets, 7-11, several very nice hotels and a slew of other conveniences. Chiang Mai is also easy to get around, so you will find it no hardship at all getting to the famous night bazaar, or any of the other cool places in the city during your time off.

What does the SEE TEFL course in Chiang Mai cover?

SEE TEFL’s course covers a lot of ground, it lasts four weeks and during that time you will learn everything you need to know to be able to pass the TEFL course and be qualified to teach English in Thailand. They do run a TEFL course every month, but make sure you sign up for one well in advance so you don’t find they’re fully booked.

Fees for the TEFL course at SEE TEFL currently run at $1,395 if you book early, or $1,595 if you do not. The school can also book you a room for a month at The Prince Hotel for an additional $350, if you do not feel comfortable finding your own accommodation.

I took my TEFL course in Bangkok and, while I loved the school and learned a lot, if I had to do it over again I would take a TEFL course in Chiang Mai. It is a lovely city, it is cleaner than Bangkok and quite a bit more relaxed too.

Finally, if you are still not sure, check out SEE TEFL’s YouTube channel. They have other excellent videos about the school, the course, testimonials from teachers who trained there and information on teaching in Thailand.

A truly professional school indeed.
