The Sukhumvit area of Bangkok, Thailand is the city’s best place for nightlife. Packed with Thais and foreigners, the Sukhumvit area features pubs, bars, nightclubs, and even pool halls.
With so many venues to choose from, a visitor to Bangkok is often overwhelmed. That’s why beginning at one of these fun places is a great way to get your night off to a good start.
Bed Supperclub – Just about the most famous nightclub in Bangkok, Bed Supperclub seemed like it might be a short-term thing when it first opened a few years ago. Surprising to many, a few years later Bed Supperclub is still the place to see and be seen when it comes to nightlife.
A popular hangout for Thai actors, models and high-society types, Bed is also populated nightly by many of the city’s expats and tourists. The novelty of Bed is, of course, the ‘beds’ all around the club that you can relax in, eat in, drink in or just chitchat with new friends in.
There is a four-course meal at 8:30 every night, and some of Bangkok’s best DJs play music all night long. And don’t forget, Wednesday night is Models Night if you want to see gorgeous Thai girls and visiting western beauties.
Bed Supperclub is at 26 Sukhumvit Soi 11 near Nana BTS sky train station.
The Londoner – The Londoner is just about the top British pub in Bangkok and for good reason. The atmosphere is comfy, homey and British, the cuisine is delicious and comes in large portions, beer isn’t too expensive and is available in bottles or on tap, and there’s even satellite TV for those nights when your favorite football team is playing.
The Londoner is also populated by cute Thai waitresses and packed every night with local Thais and many expats, and is a great place to meet people.
The Londoner is in the basement of the UBC1 Building, which is on the corner of Sukhumvit 33, just a short walk down from Phrom Phong BTS sky train station.
Bourbon Street – Named as the best American restaurant and bar in Bangkok, Bourbon Street is a fun place to drink and an even better place to eat. Bourbon Street is famous for its New Orleans style
cuisine and they make a mean seafood gumbo and jambalaya. Don’t miss their Mexican buffet on Tuesday nights too. There’s even live music which adds to the mood, and a very friendly staff.
Bourbon Street is at 29/4-6 Sukhumvit Soi 22.
Zanzibar – They call themselves a ‘restrobar’ and it’s easy to see why. Zanzibar is located in a converted old two-storey Thai house that has a large restaurant on the ground floor, a beautiful patio dining area outside in a pretty garden, a nice bar, and, upstairs, a more relaxed area where you can have a lovely romantic evening if you like.
Live music is on the menu most nights and with a choice of Thai or Italian food, there’s something for most tastes. Just be warned, Zanzibar is a bit pricey for food, but the atmosphere is definitely worth it.
Zanzibar is at Sukhumvit 11.
