As the consummate computer shoppers we are, we often get asked how much is an Apple iPad in Bangkok, Thailand? Travelers know shopping in Thailand is cheap, so they expect something like an Apple iPad to be cheaper in Bangkok than the US or Europe.
So, how much cheaper is an Apple iPad in Bangkok than where you live? Sadly to say, it’s not any cheaper at all.
In fact, you may end up paying even more money for an Apple iPad in Bangkok as you will in the US or Europe as, when you take into account the exchange rate, the iPad actually works out to be more expensive here. For example:
The newest basic iPad. the Apple iPad 2 MC979LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wif) goes for around $538 in the US. In Thailand, they’re currently selling in most computer and IT stores for 19,500 baht, which at $629 is almost $100 more than in the US.
The Apple iPad MC706LL/A (32GB, Wi-Fi) is selling on Amazon in the US for $652. In Bangkok, the price as of this week is 23,500 baht or $758 — more than $100 more expensive than in the US.
As you can see, if you desperately want to buy an Apple iPad, Bangkok is not the place to buy it in. And, if you think you’ve found one a lot cheaper, let’s just say we did warn you — you will be buying a fake one, and they last, oh, about a month.
