Thinking about selling gold in Thailand? If so, with current gold prices having just gone up over 300 baht ($10.30) per baht weight since the market closed on Friday, the best time to sell gold in Thailand may just be now.

The last time I sold gold in Thailand, I had a gold ring I’d bought when I first moved to Thailand. A gold ring I never liked and rarely wore. At the time, gold prices in Thailand were around 18,000 baht per baht weight — a far cry from the almost 3,500 baht ($118) increase per baht weight nowadays.

I sold the ring at one of the gold shops at MBK Mall in downtown Bangkok, where I was given just short of 6,000 baht (just over $200) for it. I was going to go to Chinatown, but the Thai friend I went with, who is very knowledgeable about selling gold, took me to a gold shop at Bangkok’s Mahboonkrong (MBK) mall. My friend sells all her gold there as she says the seller is nice. And yes, she was correct.

At the time, I was happy with the price I was given for my ring, but the price for gold in Thailand is even better now.

The current gold selling price as of April 8th, 2013, is set at 21,481.72 baht per baht-weight for gold ornaments and 21,800 baht per baht-weight for gold bar.

If you want to buy gold, however, you’ll pay 22,300 baht per baht-weight for gold ornaments, and 21,900 baht per baht-weight for gold bar.
