A spokesperson for Pheu Thai, the governing Thai political party, says former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva should resign from his position as MP after being found guilty of draft dodging yesterday. Prompong Nopparit said former Pheu Thai leader Yongyuth Wichaidit had resigned as an MP after he was found guilty of corruption several years ago, and Abhisit should do the same.
But, it’s not just all talk as far as Pheu Thai are concerned it seems. Prompong said, if Abhisit does not resign, Pheu Thai will file a case with the Constitutional Court asking it to rule whether Abhisit is still qualified to be a member of parliament.
After all, as corrupt as some Thai politicians are, even they don’t want a draft-dodging Thai MP like Abhisit.
