Air quality in Bangkok from February 1st to 3rd could cause health problems for vulnerable groups
With February, 2023 just a couple of days away, Thailand’s Public Health Ministry is warning air quality in Bangkok next week is due to worsen.
According to the Health Ministry the level of PM2.5 dust pollutants will increase beginning on Tuesday, primarily due to weaker than usual winds causing the particles to stick around longer than normal.
If dust pollution in Bangkok increases to more than 75 microgrammes per cubic meter, this could therefore negatively impact the health of those with already vulnerable respiratory systems.
As it stands at the moment, air quality in Bangkok is likely to worsen from the 1st to the 3rd of February, and could remain poor for even longer than that.
Meanwhile, Thai health officials have become worried about the respiratory health of the vulnerable over the last few weeks as they are seeing an increase in the numbers of people suffering from both skin and eye allergies in Bangkok, as well as those with respiratory problems.
That is why some health experts are recommending those with respiratory illnesses ask their employer if they will allow them to work from home for those three days.
Some Bangkok companies are also already allowing employees to work from home in an effort to limit their exposure to more PM2.5 dust pollutants.

While they currently classify Bangkok air quality index as “Moderate”, as you will see from their chart (see above), they also forecast unhealthy air beginning on February 1st, with the worst days likely to be on the 2nd and 3rd of February.
