How much will the Amazing Thailand New Year Countdown raise for the country?

If you have ever been to one of Thailand’s New Year Countdown activities, you will know how lavish they can be.

Live music from some of Thailand’s most famous artists and singers, TV celebrities, Thai traditional dancers, light and sound shows and, of course, an extravagant fireworks display to usher in the new year.

In fact, if you are looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve in Thailand this year, I highly recommend one of these celebrations. Thais know how to party, so they are incredibly fun to attend.

Thailand’s New Year Countdown activities occur all over the country, and are primarily set up to promote tourism to the country although, of course, millions of Thais attend them as well. Yes, these events bring in a lot of money.

This year, the New Year Countdown is being called the Amazing Thailand New Year Countdown 2018, and you will find events connected to it organized in Lampang, Sakon Nakhon, Rayong, Kanchanaburi and Phuket.

So how much will the Amazing Thailand New Year Countdown 2018 raise for the country?

According to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Yuthasak Supasorn, the organization is expecting events across all five provinces to raise a total of one billion baht.

In U.S. dollars, that is around $30.5 million — a huge amount of money for events only being held on December 31st, 2017 and January 1st, 2018.
