Where are the Christian Churches in Bangkok, Thailand

Thailand is known throughout the world as a Buddhist country, with 97% of Thais following Buddhism. Thais, though, are very open-minded about other religions and worship of any kind is allowed and respected, regardless which religion someone belongs to. If you’re Christian and traveling or living in Bangkok, Thailand, you’ll be happy to know there are a number of Christian churches in the city that are well-attended and have diverse congregations. Most have Sunday services, Sunday school and even have other Christian events during the week. They’re a great place to meet people too.

Assumption Cathedral – The most popular Christian church in Bangkok is Assumption Cathedral, the main church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bangkok.

Assumption Cathedral is around 100 years old and is one of the most beautiful buildings in Bangkok. Services are held throughout the week, but the Sunday services are particularly popular with many choices. The first mass is at 6am, followed by 7:30 am, 8:30 am and 10am. The final service of the day is at 5pm. The cathedral has a lovely choir, which you can hear singing many songs on their website (see link below)

International Church of Bangkok – One of the smaller Christian churches in Bangkok is ICB, International Church of Bangkok. Their congregation is made up of a few Thai Christians, but mainly Christians from other Asian countries, Africa, Europe and North and South America. With both long-term Bangkok residents and many short-term travelers, you’ll meet many interesting people here.

At International Church of Bangkok, they don’t preach any Christian creed, so you’re free to choose your own. The church has two Sunday services – a traditional service at 10am and a more contemporary one at 6:30pm, so there should be something to suit your likes. They also have children’s Sunday school groups and adult discussion and devotional study groups.

As ICB doesn’t own a building, they move around a bit. You’ll find them for their Sunday morning service at Bangkok Christian College near Surasak sky train station. For the 6:30pm service, they’re at
Bangkok Christian Guest House near the Sala Daeng sky train station. For more information, check out their website.

Christ Church Bangkok – Everyone is welcome at Christ Church Bangkok, whether you’re a resident or a traveler, as one of the oldest Christian churches in Thailand Christ Church has been welcoming Christians to Bangkok since 1864.

Christ Church Bangkok has two regular services on Sundays – one at 7:30 am and the other at 10am. Every few weeks, they also have a 6pm service. The church also runs small groups for Bible study, discussion and prayer as well as Alpha courses, a sort of ‘introduction to Christianity’.

If you have kids with you, Christ Church Bangkok has a number of groups for toddlers, children and teens with Bible classes, study groups, retreats and other activities your kids will love.

The church website has lots of information about all their activities and who they are.
