How much is a cup of coffee or tea in Thailand?
One of the questions I get asked a lot is “How much is a cup of coffee or tea in Thailand?”. By that, the person usually means how much will they have to pay for a latte, an americano, an ice-blended coffee, a green tea frappe or any other coffee or tea drink.
That’s why I thought this Daily Photo would be helpful.
It’s a quick photograph of a price list from a new coffee stall near my house. It’s a nice, quite upscale looking coffee stall, which is why their prices are about 5 baht (16 cents) higher than a typical street-side coffee stall in Bangkok. Of course, these prices are only for coffee stalls in Thailand, and not for places like Starbucks or Coffee World where, honestly, you’ll pay as much as you pay in the US or Europe for any type of drink. No, Starbucks is not cheap in Thailand.
As you can see from the price list, you will pay a lot less for a typical coffee or tea drink in Thailand than you probably will where you live.
Coffee in Thailand is cheap if you don’t buy at Starbucks
For instance, a small americano is 25 baht (83 cents), whereas a large americano is 35 baht ($1.07).An espresso, cappuccino, mocha or latte starts at 30 baht ($1) for a small and goes up to 45 baht ($1.50) for a large size. Add an extra 5 baht (16 cents) if you want that iced.
As for how much is a cup of tea in Thailand, or an Ovaltine, cocoa, lemon tea or punch — similarly cheap. 20 baht each (66 cents) for a small and an extra 10 baht (33 cents) for a large.
Check out the rest of the price list for your favorite drink. But, as you can see, you shouldn’t have any worries about spending money on coffee and tea in Thailand. Even for an addict like myself who drinks at least 10 cups a day, it’s still dirt cheap.
