If you’re on a visit to Koh Samui and looking for somewhere good to eat, don’t miss Bophut (also sometimes spelled Bophud) and it’s huge number of restaurants, cafes, and pubs. Not for nothing is it known for having some of the best food on Samui, not only for taste but also variety. With so many Bophut restaurants to choose from though, which are the best? That’s where we can help and we’ll start by saying, head to Fisherman’s Village — that’s where the best food is.
Happy Elephant – Just about the most famous place in the area for fresh fish and seafood, Happy Elephant is awesome if you love to pick out your own catch and choose how it’s cooked. You pay per 100 grammes, and with so many delicious things on the menu, you’ll probably end up with quite a few dishes. We reckon a great meal at Happy Elephant is about 600 baht, but well worth every satang.
Starfish and Coffee – One of the cutest cafes you’ll find anywhere on Samui, Starfish and Coffee is famous for not only its coffee drinks, which are great, but also for its extensive seafood menu. Don’t miss the crab and squid here – awesome! You also get to choose between sitting outside by the ocean, or inside on floor pillows. Either way, it’s groooovy and, dare we say, cheap!
Villa Bianca Ristorante – If you prefer Italian food to seafood, or just want a change from Thai, just about the best Italian restaurant on Koh Samui is Villa Bianca Ristorante. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, sit outside by the ocean, it’s just lovely. As for ordering, don’t pass up the Risotto with Porcini Mushrooms or the ‘Trio di formaggio al forno’ (3 baked cheeses served with Italian bread – yum!).
