Bangkok, Thailand is known for its luxury hotels.
Five-star hotels that, when compared to similar hotels in other capital cities, are quite a bit cheaper yet still offer one of the most luxurious experiences you will ever have.
All of these Bangkok luxury hotels, I have either stayed at, dined at one of their restaurants, met clients for business meetings or used their swimming pools, business center or other facilities.
That is why I am recommending these top five best luxury hotels in Bangkok as I know how wonderful they are from first-hand experience.
The Peninsula
Honestly, I do not think anyone would put together a list of the top five best luxury hotels in Bangkok without putting The Peninsula at the top of that list, as it really is superb.
The Peninsula is a five-star 37-storey 370 room Bangkok luxury hotel with a lovely colonial feel. Located next to the Chao Praya River, guests to The Peninsula will be impressed with its stunning swimming pool complete with Thai-style pavilions, its gorgeous lawns, large outdoor tennis court, three superb restaurants, three bars, a full-service spa and, of course, the hotel’s stunning rooms.
Add in the views out over the Chao Praya, and this hotel really is something special.

Banyan Tree Bangkok
The 327-room Banyan Tree Bangkok is another Bangkok luxury hotel in a perfect location near Lumphini Park, and with some of the best facilities in the city.
At this gorgeous five-star hotel, you will have a choice of seven room types, six restaurants, three bars, a full-service spa with 16 treatment rooms, an outdoor pool, fitness center, yoga classes and an excellent business center.

If you ask anyone in Bangkok what they think Banyan Tree Bangkok is famous for, however, they are likely to talk about the rooftop Vertigo restaurant and Moon Bar where you can both dine or drink while enjoying the most spectacular views out over the city.
For all this luxury, rates for Banyan Tree may actually be cheaper than you expect.
Banyan Tree is located at 21/100 South Sathon Road, Bangkok, Bangkok, 10120
Lebua at State Tower
Lebua at State Tower is another Bangkok luxury hotel with a stunning roof bar and restaurant.
This five-star gem, though, is much more than that with its 357 guest rooms, four restaurants and five bars, outdoor pool, a state-of-the-art business center and fitness center.
Located near the Silom business district and next to the mighty Chao Praya River, Lebua at State Tower gives you access to the best of both worlds.
Saphan Taksin BTS sky train station is just a couple of minutes walk away and from there it’s just a short ride to Lumpini Park, Siam Square and Sathorn, and and ferries on the Chao Praya are a minute or two to catch. In fact, from here it is as easy to get to the Grand Palace and Asiatique as it is to get to Siam Square and Wat Arun.
Rates too are far more reasonable than you may think, especially for something this elegant.
You will find Lebua at State Tower at State Tower 1055/111 Silom Road, Bangrak, Bangkok, 10500
The Sukhothai Bangkok
The Sukhothai Bangkok is not only the hotel many Thai families head to when they want to celebrate a special occasion, it is also a Bangkok luxury hotel that is truly special.
A smaller hotel than many of the city’s luxury offerings, The Sukhothai is only 13 stories high and with just 210 rooms. This gives it a more friendly and more exclusive air than some of Bangkok’s other luxury hotels. Something you notice immediately as you drive up its tree-lined driveway, feeling for all the world like you are in the middle of the countryside instead of in one of the world’s largest and most congested cities.
The Sukhothai has an old-world traditional Thai feel to it as well, with its stupas and statues of Buddha, but that does not stop it from having a superb conference center, a top-of-the-line 24 hour fitness center, a full-service spa and being in one of the best locations in the city — right in the middle of Bangkok’s Central Business District and close to Lumpini Park.
Rates again do not reflect the luxury and elegance of this stunning world-class hotel.
The Sukhothai — 13/3 South Sathorn Road, Thungmahamek, Sathorn, Bangkok, Bangkok, 10120
Shangri-La Bangkok
Another luxury five-star hotel located on the Chao Praya River, the Shangri-La Bangkok is not only stunning, it is also one of the largest Bangkok luxury hotels with more than 800 guest rooms.
To go with its size, of course, you also get impeccable service, seven restaurants, three bars, not one but two stunning outdoor pools, a 24-hour health club, a conference center, on-site car rentals, in-room childcare and much more.
The Shangri-La Bangkok is located in Bang Rak so just a couple of minutes walk from the Saphan Thaksin BTS sky train station. It is also close to Assumption Cathedral, near Patpong Night Market and within a few minutes traveling distance either by boat or sky train to many of the city’s top destinations. It is also one of the closest luxury hotels to Suvarnabhumi Airport just a 30-minute drive away.
